Since 2016, BDO has conducted studies of the internal audit practices in the Swiss banking sector. The target audience of our study is banks and securities firms licensed by FINMA.
Three years after our last study, BDO is continuing this analysis in 2025.
The primary objective remains: to analyse the evolution of the profession over time, and to compare developments and trends in this sector over the long term.
The new edition of the study highlights several structural trends, including the implementation of the new IIA 2024 standards and the integration of artificial intelligence in internal audit activities.
We hope with this study to provide you with benchmarks derived from practice across the entire profession, in order to set in motion a process of reflection and guide the further development of your organisations. The objective is to raise awareness of the increasingly strategic role of internal audit and promote full recognition of its importance within financial institutions.
